| - I would give this hotel 2.5 stars if I could. I really went back and forth all weekend from wanting to write a scathing review to saying well maybe it's not too bad. In the end, I realized there were more things that I liked about this place than didn't. I swear, I've never been somewhere that not only do people have a clue, but actually act mad or put out that you ask them.
**PHONE CALL FOR RESERVATION: I should have known what we were getting into from this call- I was transferred 3 times before I got someone willing to make a reservation! And each person acted more than annoyed despite my simple greeting of "Hello, I'd like to make a reservation...."
**CHECK IN: We arrived at 2:30pm...waited in a very long line to finally be told that our room wasn't ready yet as they gave rooms away to the people who checked in early. Really?? So while we're here on time for check in, we have to be inconvenienced? I was told that it would be another hour before we had a room ready. The woman asked us "well, do you have someplace to be? I mean, do you know anyone else with a room here, you can use their room to get ready?" NOOOO! We don' know anyone else here, nor should we have to crash in someone else's room. My friend finally went back in after waiting for about 20 minutes and spoke to another woman a the front desk. She said they had a room ready that was "like yours but only one king bed instead of two double" NOTHING LIKE what we reserved but at this point we were running out of time to get ready for an event we were going to.We decided to take it. I thought this was appalling that they would just give rooms out to those checking in early, until I realized the people checking in probably have no idea that on the website it says there is a $50 early check in fee! The girl at desk tried to get me to pay for parking and after I told her I already paid at meter, she just rolled her eyes. Nice. By the time we came back from our concert, it was midnight and I wasn't counting on anything being done about the shower. The lady at the front desk told us maintenance doesn't come in til 7am.
**OUR DELUXE ROOM (THAT WE PAID EXTRA FOR): I will say that when walking into our room on the third floor, I noted that it seemed recently renovated and the décor was new and fresh. If you're into modern décor- you'll approve. Nice large, comfy king sized bed, flat screen TV, desk and chair and we also had a balcony. I went out to get some fresh air and was immersed in a thick cloud of weed presumably coming from one of the other balconies. I went into the bathroom and realized we had bigger problems than that. Our shower was completely broken. Not even kidding, the faucet was coming out of the wall and if you pulled up on the thing to start shower water just spurted out all over the bathroom! I used the trickle of water to clean up as best I could, as we were now running very late for our event and would have to deal with this later. There was also a kool aid stain on the carpet but I was way more worried not being able to shower for the weekend. Other than the walls being paper thin and having to listen to the couple next door going at it til 5 am, the bed was comfortable and I got a good 3 hours sleep. I got up and got on a mission to make this day better than what we just had.
I went to the front desk, ready to really give someone a piece of mind. No sleep, no shower...I mean really, those are the only 2 things you really count on in a hotel. Luckily, I spoke to the first person who was helpful this whole trip. His name is Narciso and I believe he is the reception manager. I explained the problem with our shower and Narciso immediately searched for a new room for us. He said that it was all ready, one floor up and we could move there whenever we wanted. He apologized profusely and seemed genuinely concerned. We also found out that there were some new hires there this weekend, so maybe that was why so many glitches? Anywho, our new room was great, shower worked perfectly, so I was more than happy.
**POOL AREA: It was a gorgeous 75 degree day so we sat by the outdoor pool to catch some rays. The area was very clean, as was the pool. They had 80's music pumping through the speakers al weekend. (Did they know I was coming, or what ?)
**ETC: Basically, don't ask anyone at the front desk about anything- they don't know and will act annoyed with you that you don't know, being from out of town and all. Parking is $13.50 a night, not $12 advertised on their website. If you can't get what you need, ask to speak to manager as most people at front desk are either new or giving out wrong information. There was a Keurig in room. Movies (not porn) cost $15.99.
Would I stay here again? Maybe, maybe not. Like I said, I found a lot I did like about the hotel and now after driving around the area, we know where shopping and restaurants are. Just beware!
