  • 3.5 stars, if that option was available. While I actually enjoyed my stay, I thought that it could have been a bit better while traveling on business. THE GOOD: I enjoyed the room. No question about it, I found it to be comfortable and clean. Absolutely no issues with regard to having cum-stained pillows, dirty sheets, and thong underwear that reeks of stripper oil & sweat hanging on the back of the bathroom door (as some other reviewers have conveyed). There was none of that here! The walls aren't paper-thin, and I slept pretty good here. While I didn't expect a room to have a view of downtown Pittsburgh, I did appreciate the fact that this hotel is secluded within an industrial park at the bottom of a hill. Amazingly enough, its fairly close to one of the major highways that runs through Pittsburgh and the surrounding metro area. Customer service was really, really good. The lady that checked me in (Meagan) was very informative of the local area, and very cool to talk with. She is probably the shining star of this hotel, and it wouldn't surprise me if she was the front office manager or higher. Quite professional. THE BAD: The Internet here absolutely sucked. The upload and download speeds were so bad that you would think that a busload of teenagers were downloading an online game all at once throughout the night. I've experienced this at other hotels, and this sort of issue is not uncommon. But damn, if you get two or three bars between 8-12 PM at night and have to utilize your phone for better performance, that is not a good thing. I actually expected a little bit better in this regard. There is not a free breakfast option here, which is bummer. No big deal. The breakfast that is within the bar area has a restaurant further in the rear of the building, and charges $8.50 for a buffet-style setup. Believe me, this is anything but buffet. The choices were eggs, dried up sausage and bacon, bagels, and watered-down orange juice with bland coffee. I'm eating this thinking "I paid $8.50 for this bullsh*t?" C'mon now, Wyndham Garden! THE UGLY: Not really much. There was an elevator out at the time where you could see the elevator shaft very clearly. While this may be fine with grownups, this is a big no-no for those that have small children that tend to get away from their parents. Please, Wyndham Garden, close the elevator doors to prevent a mishap from happening. Also, for some reason, what's up with the AC unit/heater? If you adjust the temperature, it would blow hot or cold for three minutes, and then stop for twenty minutes or more. Talk about being slightly uncomfortable. Nonetheless, my room warmed up to the desired temperature...four hours later. While this hotel is hard for me to hate, its also even harder to really love. It has the potential and location to be greater than what it is. Kudos to having a full bar, pool area, and plenty of parking.
