Took an unguided tour at Bootleg Canyon. Went off by myself (not smart) and got in trouble on backside of mountain after I got too far without enough water. No other riders on trail that day I collapsed due to dehydration and heat. Dizzy and with spotty cell service, help was far away as I contacted 911 and they were too confounded as to where I was (no definable address except GPS) and who had jurisdiction to help. But Matt at Bike Blast rallied his troops(Matt, Jeff + 1 other heroic rider) as I holed up by a small rock outcropping. It took Matt over two hours to get to me but without all of them I would still be there as a monument to foolish preparation. Word to the wise in Nevada. I initially rode 2 1/2 hours using up a full water complement but collapsed trying to make it back around mountain after water ran out. By the time I was rescued, I drank TEN water bottles worth(over a gallon) of water to rehydrate. I mountain bike 40miles/week back in Florida. The desert is no joke. Thanks big time to Bike Blast!!
