| - Imagine a Whole Foods that isn't over-priced with fresher/tastier groceries and prepared foods. You can stop dreaming and just visit Los Altos Ranch Market.
Stop by for lunch. They sell numerous options of freshly squeezed/prepared juices and drinks (oh yeah, they have horchata!), then go to the counter for some made-to-order authentic Mexican fair: Amazing tacos, awesome tamales (pick the pork over the chicken), crispy tortilla chips, flavorful sauces (their red enchilada sauce is pure perfection), and an endless list of other tasty foods. All of their tacos come with fresh tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and limes (my taco plate had enough wedges to make two whole limes). They even serve whole, fried Snapper in a combo for only $8. Be warned, when I say "whole," I'm saying that it comes with the head. Something that makes my mom squeamish, but it is the only way I'll order Snapper. Then again, I ordered Tripe as one of my options for tacos.
When your finished with lunch, you can then shop for supper because Los Altos Ranch Market is more of a grocer than an actual restaurant. They have all the organic veggies you'll need for pocket change. The meat/fish department is impressive without being snooty. Before you leave, make sure you grab some of their fresh, in-store prepared corn tortillas, tortilla chips, and enchilada sauce. They have other freshly made dips that, judging from the enchilada sauce, would be a great addition to any meal or snack.
