TIE YOUR TOOTH TO A DOORKNOB AND SHUT IT BEFORE COMING HERE!! I have never written a review online before (check my Yelp account) but feel obligated to in order to warn others of his awful business practices and shoddy work. This is a long story so bear with me. I went to Dr. (and I use that term loosely) Picot because he is close to home and my roomate went there for a basic cleaning and said they have really nice new equipment. After my initial cleaning Dr. Picot tells me I have 9 cavities (saw a dentist 1 year before hand so hard to believe). I take his word for it and come in to get the ones on my left side done. the appointment takes 4 1/2 HOURS because he was too busy seeing other patients and the novocain wore off 6 times requiring additional shots each time. Finally it wore off the last time and I told him to just finish without novocain for the last hour of the apointment which was incredibly painful since I did not want to come back or ever see him again. He did and then told me the reason the novocain wore off is because I was nervous (had at least 8 other cavities filled, never had a problem before), I have a friend and his father who are both anesthesiologists and both said that is completely not true and not possible. HE THEN TOLD ME TO TAKE A VALIUM BEFORE I COME IN NEXT TIME AND HE COULD PRESCRIBE IT TO HELP ME RELAX (SERIOUSLY????). On the way out they said I owed an additional $180 that would not be covered by my insurance because they had to use some sort of different type of equipment then I had already paid for (I have incredible insurance and work for the Federal Government) and would be getting a bill ON TOP OF THE ALREADY AGREED UPON CHARGES. I was so out of it after all of this I just left.
A week later my teeth started really hurting where he drilled and was very sensitive to hot and cold. I go back home to my family denstist in Cleveland (who is amazing) that I had gone to exclusively for 28 years before and he said one of the fillings HAD ALREADY FALLEN OUT!!. On top of that in reference to the "4 CAVITIES" Mr. (I refuse to use the term Dr. again) Picot supposedly said were on the other side of my mouth he said "there is one spot I would watch but no need to fix". Finally after telling all of this to Mr. Picot's front desk help when they tried to collect they said "ok we're sorry and I'll talk to him and get back to you", the next thing I know a collection notice shows up in the mail from a 3rd party collection agency for the $180. At that point I reached a breaking point and am writing this comment purely out of concern for others that may get lured into his shoddy business practices by shiny equipment and location.
UPDATE: Mr. Picot has a history of getting in touch with customers and trying to get them to drop negative comments online. He called me personally twice and after several confrontational converations has THREATENED LEGAL ACTION IN RESPONSE TO THIS COMMENT and a grievence I filed with the BBB. He offered to drop the $180 charge if I deleted this and dropped the case with the BBB...his offer has clearly been declined. THIS PLACE IS A CAVITY ON THE SMILE OF SOUTHEND.
