Was at Trump Tower Toronto for their first external event. Entrance is odd. Lobby underwhelming. Event floor - decor is very eighties. Black lacquer bathrooms, blue lighting (not flattering for humans).
Service - somewhat stiff. Pleasant enough but would expect more. Probably just need to find their groove. Sushi bar guy knew his stuff!
Food - risotto was so-so. Braised short ribs were tender and tasty. Sushi fresh and good variety. Desserts - excellent! Had lots of chocolate type items which seemed made in house. Caramel was fantastic. Wine very good. Appetizers - loved mushroom in panko crust. Little dish of hummus with veg and nachos was good. I found that there was a lot of truffle used. I like truffle oil (in moderation) but seemed just a little to much. Seasoning was spot on for everything.
Overall enjoyed the place but it needs more time to settle into itself. Seriously though - who was the interior designer? Didn't have the level of class that a ritz or four seasons has. I think it will feel dated very quickly.
