| - This was the first place I ventured to after moving toward the east side of Madison. It's a very calm place, lots of seating, quiet ambience, just the perfect place to study, enjoy a meal, or just relax. The baristas are always helpful and friendly and provide excellent service.
The first food I tried was the Sunday morning breakfast sandwich with homemade chips. And ever since, that has been my default food item of choice when coming here. Fresh ingredients, freshly pressed, and that touch of maple are unbeatable. Another favorite of mine is the homemade granola and yogurt. You can definitely taste the quality in their granola - it has the perfect crunch, never stale. A lot of places have granola with that corn syrup taste, but not JPH. And the inclusion of cashews is just another level of finesse that makes their granola so superb. It also comes with fresh fruit, big bonus.
In terms of coffee, I myself always get an iced decaf. And I must say, the coffee they use is quite high quality, so I definitely didn't mind paying the premium over generic Starbucks decaf. Their roast just has this deep, dark note that makes you know you are drinking straight up coffee and not water that tastes like coffee.
[They do also carry pastries, but if you can, I would recommend you go directly to Batch Bakehouse (not a far bike ride) because you do pay a premium for getting them at JPH)
I highly recommend this place to anyone in Madison.
