| - An off the strip (but not too far) local gem! ...You're welcome.
I am torn about writing a review for Herbs and Rye...I kind of want to keep it off of the radar and keep this little gem all to myself. However, the experience was beyond awesome not to give a huge cheers to the: ambiance, mixologists (bartenders), and food.
Herbs and Rye is everything you want in a dark and sexy bar in a location that you don't want it in..which totally adds to its appeal and allure. (Thank the parking-lot gods, parking was easy breezy).
The ambiance is on point from the dimly lit bar and smartly dressed staff. I'm a sucker for period, artsy, glam, & gothic noir and this fits the bill.
I sat at the bar and ordered my traditional rye-whiskey and ginger beer. However, I took plenty of time to let the drink menu school me in the ways & ages of alcohol: Gothic, Golden, Old School, Prohibition, Rat Pack, & Revival!!! The bartenders at Herbs and Rye are mixologists and know the ways of spirits.
Soooo, I've been around for some 30'ish years and I will go on record saying the tomato bisque soup is the best I've ever had...It's paired with an over the top delicious gourmet grilled cheese sandwich...So DON'T order the amazing yummy flat bread as a side like I did because I didn't read the menu far enough to see the grilled cheese. Ha! Beyond satiated!!!
If I didn't live in Portland Oregon this would be 'my spot'.
I will absolutely be back the next time I visit Vegas.
Do come hungry
Do come thirsty
Do make a reservation for the restaurant
Do ask the bartenders to make you a 'surprise' drink if you don't know what you want
Don't drink and drive. If you do drive parking lot is available, do have a designated driver.
Do take a cab/uber...and believe me leaving sober isn't really on the menu
Don't be alarmed by the co-ed bathrooms but do lock the doors, all of them.
