  • I want to love 32 Shea. It is locally owned, has an awesome atmosphere, reasonable prices, and a good happy hour. I love sandwiches, coffee, and a good glass of wine- so it should be the perfect place! The reason for my two star rating is directly related to a recent experience I had with my husband and son when we went for lunch. First, we walked in to the restaurant and there was a line leading up to the cash register (normal). Initially, my husband, holding my son, stood to the left of the line. However, he was in the way of waitstaff, and had to move out of their way several times while holding a baby. No big deal- we just moved to the other side of the bar, where we would be out of the way of the waitstaff while we waited to get to the front of the line. When the line cleared up, the bartender pretty rudely told us that we needed to move to the front of the cash register in order to order because the bar was unopened. It was just kind of weird, because clearly we had just been in the line and had only moved to the side of the bar because we were in the way of the waitstaff. His attitude was just a little bit snotty and not at all understanding that we were holding a baby while trying to move out of the waitstaff's way. After we ordered, I asked if there were any highchairs. The cashier told me that they were only available outside. I get it, it is a very small space inside, but that is a total bummer when you live in a place that is over 100° for several months of the year. So, we were a little disappointed, because it was 95° and we have a one-year-old, but we went outside anyway. This is where the rating really comes in. There were three plastic IKEA highchairs, stacked sitting underneath a tree in the corner of the patio. They were filthy. I mean absolutely filthy. Caked in dirt and old food filthy. Fortunately, I had a pack of Clorox wipes with me and I got to work while my husband went to find a busser. However, even with an entire pack of wipes and the busser wiping down the highchair, it still had black dirt marks all over it and caked food. I even asked him if he would be willing to eat off of something like that, and he shamefully said, "no." Husband and I were both pretty frustrated at that point but were determined to not let it ruin our day. We enjoyed our sandwiches and a glass of wine and everything ended pretty smoothly. Unfortunately, the experience just left a bitter taste in our mouths, and it will be a while before I'm ready to go back again.
