Our 4 day/ 3 night stay was a mixed bag this past weekend. It wasn't a holiday so it makes me wonder if things would be worse during holiday. We booked this hotel using the Hotwire lottery deal where you get 1 of 4 different hotels but Hotwire chooses for you. I was excited when we saw we would stay here but now I'm not sure why.
Valet is too expensive but there's nowhere for self parkers to drop off or load their luggage. You have to use the valet area and get stared at by the staff. Getting checked in was a hassle - we were given 2 double beds when a King was requested. Then we had to either pay $35 for checking in 3 hours early or upgrade our room at $22 per night to avoid that fee and get a King bed. My goodness - we hadn't even gotten to the room and it was nothing but stress.
The room - without a view.... was spacious and on the 19th floor. We had a tiny view of the High Roller. Next time, make sure you ask for a view if you want one. We didn't and assumed - shame on us. The area was quiet - not much noise to wake us up in the middle of the night except the last night. My guess is the water pipe was making that noise in the wall. Calling downstairs yielded no answers.
We decided to shower before going out that 1st night - but we didn't remember our shampoo/conditioner for some reason. Since the shower had dispensers, we thought awesome! When I tried using it, it was empty! My BF had to call downstairs and 10 minutes later housekeeping showed up while I had wet hair and was in a towel. I was not happy but the night ended up being fun, even after that BS.
We explored the hotel some more after going on the Strip. We ate at the Nook and checked out the casino. It's a very nice spot and doesn't stink like some casinos do. I also appreciated the USPS mailbox by the registration desk.
As a side note, parking was a disaster. The machine that allowed cars in/out broke down and cars were lined up for almost an hour! It was ridiculous that nobody answered the phones. I called Security and nobody picked up. The call button on both sides continually rang. It was terrible and people were coming up to our car thinking it was US holding things up! Once inside the hotel, we went to the registration desk again to alert them. I doubt anything was done. It happened the next day.
The only true negative on the casino floor is those dang suits that hound the crap out of you for a presentation. NO I don't want a presentation. They just don't take no for an answer and are annoying.
Will we come back? Maybe. It's not THAT bad - there's so many worse hotels.
*** We did, however find very large cockroaches coming towards us as we exited the elevator***
