I honestly have to shake my head over the negative reviews here whining that this is not a farmer's market because it doesn't offer 'enough' produce, and the produce they offer is so expensive. You don't come here for your weekly stock up on every day food supplies. You come for the atmosphere, the dialogue with the vendors and the specialty food and other items you can get here. They have at least four booths offering local organically grown produce, covering several seasonal fruit and vegetables, including hydroponic/aeroponic micro greens. For me that is enough, I don't need ten different vendors offering the very same produce. Thinking about the time, money and especially the effort going into growing organic produce, the prices are reasonable. You can get varieties of several fruit or vegetables that you don't get at any Sprouts and Whole Foods, that alone makes it worth the visit. The other vendors offer everything from handmade soap to jerky to pasta to sauces, and most vendors are very generous in giving out samples and talking about their products. I got several different delicacies here to take back to Germany with me (I live in Germany but come to Gilbert every few months) and my family always has rave reviews (the hit so far: killer bee honey!). If you are still hungry after walking over the place despite all the tasty samples you can enjoy a meal from different food trucks and vendors. I can especially recommend Chef Jean's biscuit and gravy as well as the tamales from another booth ~ mind blowing! The Gilbert Farmer's Market is always worth a visit to get special local delicacies and specialties, and to support the local small businesses with a purchase. It is worth every cent.
