| - So apparently "bicerin" is a fancy coffee native to Turin, Italy made with espresso, drinking chocolate, and whole milk. Sounds fancy, right? Well let me tell you - Bicerin Espresso Bar is anything but fancy, which is not necessarily a bad thing! Sometimes you just want a comfortable, cozy coffee shop to buckle down and get some work done. I think that's what Bicerin is - it gets the job done without the air of pretentiousness that so many coffee shops tend to have. On any given day, you can probably find this place packed with a bunch of students working/studying, and they have an array of seating options (tables, benches, couch).
Drinks wise, it's your basic standard stuff with a couple cool additions to the menu. I've tried their regular latte and their lavender cafe latte (a regular latte with lavender syrup). Both are alright - not the best coffee I've had, but not the worst either. The lavender taste was really subtle in the latter, but I could see the droplets of syrup as I sipped away at my drink. Kind of disappointing because I was initially drawn here because of their lavender drinks; they also have a vanilla lavender tea latte made with real lavender. Also, maybe it was just my barista but the latte art I received was horrendous (see my picture).
Anyways, it's no Italy but it's a nice place to settle in and have a chat or get some work done if you're in the area.
