| - Came here just after noon with a party of 4. Waited about 30 minutes before we were seated, and it only took this long because the patio wasn't open due to the rain. We were surprised with how big the interior was, and noticed a wide board games selection (perhaps you can play Scrabble while eating brunch?).
To start, I had the vanilla almond latte which is on the sweeter side but definitely tasty. We also ordered a side of waffle bacon which is bacon dipped in the waffle batter. Amazingly, it doesn't tasty oily or fatty at all - you can enjoy this snack guilt-free!
It became clear that the restaurant does not believe in bread. Every dish that should come with bread comes with waffles instead.
We had the following dishes:
1) Breakfast Benny (potato waffles, poached eggs, caramelized bacon, hollandaise sauce) - mashed potatoes are mixed in the waffle batter and surprisingly it doesn't taste too heavy! Definitely a different spin on eggs benedict and I really enjoyed it. Comes with a salad and a choice of a fruit salad, beans, or potato salad. This dish was the perfect combination of sweet and savoury.
2) The Hitchhiker (two mini waffles, cheesy scrambled eggs, four pieces of caramelized bacon ) - your typical breakfast meal which leaves you satisfied. Also comes with a salad and your choice of sides.
3) Chicken Bacon Club (roasted chicken, bacon, havarti, cucumber and secret sauce sandwiched in waffles) - ever had a sandwich with waffles instead of bread? We didn't think it was possible, but this sandwich was recently in Toronto Life's top 20 list for that very reason. Also comes with a salad and your choice of sides.
