*Bait and Switch*
The free Internet in my building is uneven. So I looked at the T-Mobile website for information about using their service as a Hotspot to fill gaps. They offer a little doodad for $75 that plugs into my laptop. Fine. So I go to T-Mobile and describe what it is I need and she tells me they don't make that doodad anymore (though it still appears on the website). She says I need a $150 doodad, instead. So I bought the thing. Along with paying $30 for 3.5GB bandwidth.
Come to find out, I don't need any doodad at all. Just upgrade my T-Mobile phone and it becomes a hotspot. I phone Customer Service to confirm. Yep. Just need to upgrade my account from $30/month to $70/month and I get unlimited access. So, I'm annoyed at being scammed by the rep at the store and I give T-Mobile another $70 for a full month of unlimited service.
I take back the box. They deduct $25 restocking fee and, of course, I'm out my $30. I express great annoyance to the clerk who agrees that I got robbed. And also she confirmed that this is a much better deal now, because of the unlimited Internet access all for just $40/month extra. I'm out $50 but at least now I have what I need. Right? Wrong.
A few days later, I get a message on my laptop that I've exhausted the 2.5GB bandwidth usage allowed. Turns out unlimited everything for $70/month means unlimited everything except when using a hotspot. Well, that ain't what I was told by two different T-Mobile representatives.
Now, I'm out $90 and all I got was a few days Internet access. And I've been lied to. Repeatedly.
Going shopping now and hoping to find a more reputable phone service provider.
Don't trust anything a T-Mobile rep tells you. They are dishonest.
