| - I love going to the Mekong supermarket. Let me bust out a quick stereotype here though: people coming to this place legit do not know how to park. It's not enough to dissuade me from coming here, but I pretty much have an anxiety attack every time I have to park or back-out to leave.
That being said, the supermarket inside Mekong is fantastic. There is not just Asian food here, but also American, Mexican and Indian. The fish counter and meat counter always have a lot to offer. You can get your fish gutted and/or prepared for you. There is also a very large array of fresh and frozen items in the case, and it has all the frozen dim sum you get at Mekong Palace! There are difficult to find Meats and interesting Seafood items to try.
Do know that there are not a ton of American items here. Things like soda are difficult to find, and are in short supply. The produce is always fantastic. Right now, for instance, the Korean pears are ginormous. You can always find any kind of rice or grain, spice or sauce.
I still have yet to grow the courage to buy the interesting durian fruit, but maybe one day I'll do it. There is a cutlery/plating section, and a hilarious aisle of chotchkies. Weekends also being the Chinese pancake lady. Yum!!!
I highly suggest giving the Mekong supermarket a try. While you're there, sample one of the amazing restaurants or the AAOzzy Bakery inside the Mekong Plaza. You can find some of my other reviews of Mekong businesses on my profile.
