| - Good ol' Candlewood Suites. Some friends of mine and I have been trekking out to Montréal for the past four years for a music festival, and for the past four years we've been staying here with no complaints! It's a great hotel in an awesome location walking distance from Vieux Montréal and busy St. Catherine's and St. Denis. This place is definitely doing something right!
I love staying here for our week long trip because of the suites with kitchenettes and an extra bedroom! When you're travelling with friends that extra room comes in handy when you're all trying to get ready to go out to the bar at the same time, and the kitchen is fantastic! Everything you need: a fridge to keep you mix cold, a freezer to keep your alcohol chilled and ice at hand, glasses to drink from, and an extra sink to guzzle water from at 3am when you're trying to avoid a hangover! (You can also keep food in the fridge, cook food on the stove and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee from your coffee maker if you're into that sort of thing too.)
The staff are friendly and there is always someone at the front desk! I also like that housekeeping is only once a week. If i'm holiday for awhile i don't want a total stranger coming into my room to see what a total slob i am, i'd rather tidy up a bit right before i leave so they can imagine a really clean, well put-together was occupying the room after i leave. Suckers.
Despite mentioning that we come here for a music festival and how much drinking and clubbing we do, my friends an I all appreciate that this hotel is so quiet! I want to be rowdy at 2am at the bar, not in the place i'm trying to sleep. Quite a few people from the music festival end up staying here (we recognize each other from our black clothing, the traditional uniform of our people) but not once have I been awoken by rowdy partying. The elevators have key card access which might be part of why! Nice and secure, and no way is anyone getting in without a room key!
