  • The location I went to was on West Thomas Road. Here's a letter I just sent to a dermatologist I was sent to for a mark on my face that worried me. Turned out to be no big deal but I think this experience shows just how vile and corrupt our medical system has turned. My experience is tiny compared to what people go through that have major medical problems. I see how it works in the UK and it just blows me away the evil behind the idea of medicine for profit. "Here's my take on my experience with your practice. I feel scammed. First of all it's bad enough that once a person is directed to a specialist the copay goes to an outrageous amount of $60, especially given the fact that the typical appointment lasts on the order of 10 minutes. That's $360/hr. If however, one swallows that reality, one would expect the most professional and serious of experiences, certainly not the one I had. First, I was called the day before the appointment and told the doctor would not be attending me but instead a physician's assistant. I would assume they are being paid considerably less than the doctor so right there up go your profits. Next I'm presented with 4 or 5 pages of info I have to fill out by hand to be seen. Much of that information is stored electronically with my primary care provider and obviously has been transmitted to you with the referral. You certainly have upgraded to electronic billing given all the notices I've received of my bill but can't print out existing info as a convenience to your patient. I did your work for the first 15 minutes of my visit. I should bill you. Next I was diagnosed with a mark on my face that would be best to be removed and the PA pulled out an aerosol can of liquid nitrogen and shot a few squirts on it, told me to come back in a month for a follow up. Cool. Problem dealt with. But wait, within a day or so a new bill appears in my mailbox telling me my insurance has been billed for $240 and I owe an additional 73.45 for "cyrosurgery". Really? Squirting my face is worth that? Not like the guy took out a scalpel and carved away. I cancelled my follow up because you have milked all the money out of me you'll ever get. I'll buy my own liquid nitrogen and do my own "surgery" from now on. How do you people live with yourselves?"
