I used to frequent this spot some 7 years ago when I lived in Montreal...
Happy to say, it hasn't changed much.
Something about Quebec which is amazing, and also disappointing at times: They have their own "take" on everything. So their Idea of a "Pub" isn't necessarily what the rest of the English-speaking world's is. I've found this analogy to be true about most things Quebecois...especially the obligatory Tipping Phenomena.
That said; this is the closest thing to a Pub I've found in Montreal vs. the name "Pub" on a sign that's really an excuse for what the rest of the world would consider a Bistro.
The terrace is pretty amazing in the summer; (I mistook it for some lush hobbit kingdom from the front of the pub my first time there, mind you; I was half in the bucket already). Pints (in Pint glasses) are $4 from 4-7. Client-el is a nice mix of Students and Locals.
I'd have given it 5 stars, but it's cash and carry per pint/drink/round vs. starting a tab...it's the whole "Service not included" (obligatory Tip) phenomena at work.
As I said; Quebec has it's own take on everything, and their philosophy on tipping can get a bit annoying at times.
