Amaryllis as big as your head! Birch walk along the creek! Turtles in the Perennial garden pond! Italian honey bees! (gentlest of honey bee) Love it here.
If you have family visiting for the day and they enjoy nature, this is your place. You can meander through the gardens as you chat after lunch at Monty's.
If someone is not able to walk long distances, the tram is a fantastic choice, it lasts about 25 minutes. We took it and Mike was our guide. What a genuine person. You could tell he loved his job and truly enjoyed educating the guests about what they were looking at. He normally drives in the morning.
The tram has a step stool for those who have difficulty getting into and out of the tram. There is an overhead recording explaining what you are looking at, and Mike would pause it in order to add some useful info that he had learned. 16 acres didn't seem so daunting anymore.
If you want to walk just a little, as you go through the doors leading to the outdoor gardens, go right and keep walking until you get to the Sunken Garden and reflecting pool. There are tables and chairs here. And a duck or two if you're lucky.
If you are looking for a wedding venue, check Olbrich out. We were told the weekends are booked out for 1.5 years, however during the week there is availability. Can't imagine a better place for wedding photos.
5 stars, truly.
