As a fan of AGT, I was happy to receive complimentary tickets to see Mat Franco as he started off his very own Vegas Show for winning season 9.
First off, getting my tickets were a pain. If you are a total rewards member and have been offered tickets - you can pick them up starting 3pm the day of at the BOX Office until 6pm.
The LINQ theater is definitely on the smaller side compared to the other major headlining shows. It's also highly adjustable - the high chairs they set out as seats are all manually placed without any row or seat numbers. Therefore, when entering the theater, the ushers had to show people one by one where to go. This slowed down the entering and people were still being shown to their seats after 7pm. My guess is - these are just minor kinks they will work out as they progress - to start, they should tell their guests when to arrive prior to the 7pm start.
Although the theater is small, it's still hard to see many of the tricks on stage. They do have camera screens but could be smoother/clearer. A lot of small tricks and also a lot of guest participation throughout the show.
As for the execution - I was on the disappointed side. Many of the tricks, I saw how he was doing them. Maybe the "distractions" weren't working for me but even my wife who is easily awed and does not see a lot of magic shows, expressed she saw a couple of times how she saw him palming / diversions not working.
Overall, entertainment value is high. I enjoyed myself and it's definitely fun. Mat does a great job of expressing what performing magic means to him and you just want to support him. He is definitely skilled at slight of hand and very personable in his performance. The flow of the show was smooth as well. For the price, it's not a bad entertainment option. The show runs a lil over an hour so you can do dinner before or after.
