Had to come in to Urgent care because of an accident I had when I went hiking the day before. A rock broke out from under me and somehow managed to break my foot pretty good.
The receptionist was very welcoming and within 30 min I was in the back getting an x-ray done by Leslie who was very helpful and made me feel comfortable. Got the results that my foot was broken and that I will need to go see a foot doctor for further treatment.
Leslie wrapped up by foot and gave me my discharge papers, again he was very informative and mindful to my needs. They gave me a prescription for (Tramodol) which I was unfamiliar with. Usually when I have broken a bone in the past I would be prescribed hydrocodon but Leslie said it it the same without the loopiness. I had a good amount of pain throbbing in my foot and was a little hesitant to be taking something I have never heard of for pain. But since I did feel like I was in good hands and trusted the Dr's judgement. So I got the script filled and went home to take my first dose. 3 hours past no alleviation of pain and my foot at all it was only getting worse more pain and more swelling. I took a second and left it at that to hopefully kick in about 3 hour later no results still throbbing pain in my foot, I called the urgent care to let them know of my condition and to discuss another option for a pain killer I requested for a low dose of hydrocodon. I new there would be a problem with getting them to understand that the medication they gave me was not working. They kept insisting that this drug will work over time which told me that this drug is used to manage pain over long periods of time, like people with chronic back problems. I just broke my foot the day before and need the pain to be alleviated immediately, I don't want to wait a week for it to start working. We continued to discuss the situation and they got to the point where they said that I need to go to the ER to get another scrip filled... I explained that I went to you guys to treat this this morning and you gave me something that doesn't alleviate my pain and now you want me to go to the ER and pay a $200 dollar co pay! and deal with the wait and just the pain of getting around sucked. The woman I was speaking to was trying to help she said I would have to go back to the same pharmacy which was closed by this time and then she said there is nothing she can do. I insisted that there needs to be something done because I do not want to take the Tramadol anymore I read that if you take to much of the stuff it can cause seizures. Either way speaking to this woman I think she was a doctor not sure but we were still going back and forth on the matter she all of a sudden had to answer the phone and told me to hold... In my frustration I hung up the phone. I did not want to argue but I did feel like I was being a little rude, but in I was in pain and needed their help. I planned on calling back shortly but before I did Leslie called me and told me that they can help me that all I would need to do is come in to pick up the script and surrender my Tramodol... which the pharmacy didn't even want but I insisted that they take it because I did not want it at all.
Well this was a long review but in the end the did help me and went out of their way to do so. I know that they didn't have to at all but I think they understood that I was in pain and not just a pill shopper which those assholes make everything harder for people that are really in need.
Thank you so much staff at urgent care and thank you Leslie!
