  • Kobe used to be my favorite sushi spot in Vegas. It was a hidden gem with friendly sushi chefs and wait staff, and a great 50% of happy hour menu on Friday and Saturday nights. I've been going to Kobe for almost 7 years. But over the course of the last year, my experience at Kobe has been steadily going down hill. The staff has turned over almost 100%. And instead of focusing on sushi/shashimi/nigiri, the menu has way over expanded to include items such as french fries. You also need to keep notes on what food items are on special and when, as the deals are constantly changing. But none of those reasons have stopped me from going to Kobe What is going to make me chose other sushi restaurants in Las Vegas over Kobe is based on my last few experiences....the lack of cleanliness. The tables are sticky, the menus are dirty with soy sauce and food stuck to them, food carts with dirty dishes is stored in the hallway to the bathrooms, and the restaurant smells like sewer. Today when I visited Kobe, the sewer smell was overwhelming the second I walked through the front door. And to cover up the smell, the employees periodically pumped air freshener through the restaurant. I don't know which was more unappetizing....the sewer smell or the cheap air freshener bathroom smell throughout the the restaurant. Again, I used to really like Kobe, but I will not be returning until things are significantly cleaned up.
