  • "I Love Arepas" is not only the name of this food stand, it is also what you will be saying after you eat here! Their specialty, of course, are the Venezualn corn cakes, or arepas. They are served warm and freshly cooked. I ordered a chicken (hot) and shrimp (cold) arepa along with a beef empenada. My favorite was the shrimp. The cold filling and the warm arepa made for a great combo. The shrimp was in a garlic, parsley sauce that was not too rich and very garlicky! It was delicious. The chicken, I was not so crazy about. I am not sure if it was deliberate or not, but there was a sourness to it that made it unappetizing. The beef in the empenada was only okay. It was a seasoned ground beef. I thought it would be more of a pulled or chopped beef. The star throughout the meal was the corn cake: warm, nice texture, not too oily was great. Prices were decent, with the shrimp being the most expensive of my dishes at $5. The location is a little sketchy and a little difficult to get to with all the one way streets everywhere, but definitely worth the effort. Be aware, the stand is closed on Sundays!
