| - My favourite butcher in Toronto.
They have an excellent selection of high-quality, local meat, and are usually able to accommodate my more eclectic tastes in meat (off-cuts, bones, fat, etc.). I usually buy things like beef cheeks, marrow bones and lard instead of boneless, skinless chicken breast.
I've tried nearly every protein they have on offer - lamb, beef, pork, chicken, quail, goat, eggs, yogurt, cured meat, etc. In the summer, they also have a decent selection of grass-fed beef, but you usually have to ask if they have it in stock. Most of the meat and eggs they sell is pasture-raised - they will usually be able to tell you precisely how the animals are raised, and what they have been fed.
The staff is great too - Peter Sanagan employs an enthusiastic team of food/meat-lovers who usually can help with preparation suggestions if needed.
The prices are pretty reasonable for the quality, and since I do the rest of my shopping in the Market, I can save money on veggies and spend that money on higher quality protein.
Their house-made sausages are delicious too - I love their breakfast sausages, and their pork taco sausages the most.
Protip: if you love yogurt, try the plain buffalo milk yogurt they sell. It's out of this world!
