| - Come for the ambiance, not the food! Being Chicago foodies, restaurants have a hard time living up to our standards. We started with the anchovy Caesar, lump crab and tuna poke, lobster Mac'n cheese and crispy chicken livers - mediocre at best. When I can create and serve better food at home and I'm not the worlds greatest cook, you know the food is ehhhh. Everything was very bland. Barely any flavors in all the dishes.
We all were praying our entrees would be better. We had the fire roasted shrimp w garlic and pine nut risotto. The shrimp were excellent, I'm sad the risotto was made with goat cheese (and I eat everything but Goat cheese!). Being such a pungent flavor, they may want to add that to the menu description. The seafood pasta week and needed seasoning, Mediterranean chicken dry, dry, dry. The best was the fresh catch of the day (Mahi) and that too was just ok.
After trying all the dishes mentioned above and not one stood out, it's disappointing. I could have bought a great handbag for the price of dinner, but it's not the loss of money that's the bummer, it was the whole aesthetics of the food experience that left us sad :((
The best part was actually the wine, and that was served lukewarm.
