| - Today was a fine, fine day!! Gary Z., the owner of Gary's Barbershop (Frank Lloyd Wright just north of Shea, in the Ancala Center, Scottsdale), has been cutting my hair for years. I first discovered his talent at another shop in Scottsdale. Today, I had the pleasure of visiting his new Shop for the first time. Right where we left off. Gary remembers how his customers like their haircut. I sat down. Didn't need to remind him of any of my preferences. The magic begins - scissors cut (the only way). Great conversation. Precision cut. Boom - excellent results.
Gary's shop is in a great location. Next to Spinato's Pizzeria, in the Ancala Center. The Shop is beautifully appointed. Definitely a guy's place. Love having the personal TV.
There are many things I like about how Gary goes about cutting hair (or any of the other services offered). I've witnessed over the years that if a new customer needs a quick cut, Gary delivers, without wasting time. That customer won't know what hit him until he realizes what a fine haircut he just received. For his long-time customers, they of course get the same high-quality service. But, I have always felt that they wanted to hang around a bit longer, 'cause they (like I) enjoyed being there. But they also get a deeper appreciation of Gary. He has many interests and many insights on various topics. That's part of what makes the experience something like the barbershops of yesterday, when relationships and friendships were developed.
But, more importantly, Gary is the kind of guy that will have NO problem building a large customer base. His talent, experience, and personality will make his Shop very successful. I wish him the best of luck in this new adventure. I'll be back once per month.
Sincerely,
Tom S., Scottsdale AZ
