Barnes & Noble in Happy Valley Towne Center. I can't say that I was particularly impressed. The shelves and tables were well-organized and there was plenty of items to choose from, as we are getting close to Christmas, but the customer service that you receive seems to be a mixed bag. On one hand the cashier I had was a very sweet elderly woman but on the other hand, the manager was particularly rude and standoffish. The kind of rude that comes with being in your 50s and only having been able to climb as high as lower management at a retail store.
The B&N Starbucks also looked like it was a monkey cage, for how clean it looked and there was not more than one or two people who were sitting in it. However, the staff in the Starbucks were very warm people.
For the life of me, I can't fathom why a dwindling demand for faceless bookstores in the age of overwhelming convenience in shopping online, would allow for boorish behavior from some of the staff. That is the kind of treatment that gets people to give negative feedback and take their money elsewhere.
