| - We stayed here for awhile in February while my spouse was working. I wanted to give a thorough review since I had plenty of time to observe and form an opinion of the property and staff:
1. They are pet friendly - hence, why we love La Quinta! They don't charge extra either.
2. Friendly staff - the front desk, breakfast server, and maids were all incredibly kind, accommodating and friendly each day. They all seemed happy to work there and happy to make the stay more comfortable for the guests.
3. Pool/spa - my husband and son loved swimming in the rarely used and heated pool. While it may not be huge or brand new, it was clean and quiet. It was a nice treat.
4. Free breakfast - Consistently good options to include warm eggs (either scrambled, rounds, or a folded over mix of egg/pepper/cheese/ham) and hard boiled eggs. Each day they had sausage links, patties or bacon. The sausage gravy and biscuits are delicious. Various cereals, fruits, yogurt, muffins or pastries, oatmeal and breads. They had regular and blueberry with flaxseed waffle mix to make your own waffles on the irons. My only complaint about that is they only had one machine and during busy times or the weekend it made the wait long for each person to make their own waffle. They have juice, coffee and milk. I was pleased with their free breakfast each day and believed it helped us save lots of money so we didn't have to buy breakfast each day.
5. Location - we found it convenient to Nellis AFB and the Vegas strip (short drive with traffic). However, many reviews about the neighborhood scared me. I found North Las Vegas in general to be a bit sketchy in parts. It is odd that the Walmart next door is completely shut down and abandoned now. I felt safe inside the hotel and walking to my vehicle. Occasionally I saw security patrolling which made me feel even better. I would not let this deter you from staying here.
My only complaint was the cleaning and maid service. I purposely took my dog out of the room and to dog parks or out and about so they had an opportunity to clean our room. Many times we got back to our room late in the afternoon or early evening and they still hadn't cleaned our room. A few times they called to see if we wanted them to come at all. Perhaps they were having issues with their maids during the time we were there?! It was annoying at times but otherwise the rooms smelled clean and were nicer than the room we stayed in on the strip at the Monte Carlo!!! Comfortable bed and amenities.
