This is a massive library with an extensive collection spanning all genres and needs. I have a Public Library Card, which essentially limits some of my online access and book access to 10, but I love that I can reserve books from this library and pick them up at any location in the system (I choose CSN Charleston Campus, usually.)
The major downside of Lied is the parking. If you are not a student and it is not the weekend, you have to park pretty far away to not have to pay (if you intend to browse, study or lounge.) You may luck out and get a metered space right in front, but it is a hassle to keep tabs on feeding it...especially if you're four stories up and waist deep in material.
However, I am using Lied as a means to check out plays for graduate school auditions and I was deeply impressed with their selection options.
Books placed on hold at the home library (wherever they're currently located) are usually available for pick up within the same day or next at the latest. Books traveling to a different location usually take 3 days.
One big mistake I made with their online system is that adding a book to your "List" is only temporary. If you don't check it out by the end of your session, that "List" (regardless of being signed into your account) will disappear. I unknowingly wasted a lot of time adding books I wanted to check out to my List but couldn't as a result of my Public Card and now they are all gone and I can't remember what they were! I hope they can make an adjustment to include that feature in the future.
