I selected the InterContinental hotel in Toronto for my business trip. It was a combination of price, location and contemporary look of the room that won me over. When I arrived at the hotel I was pleased with the fact that it was right next to Toronto's CN Tower. I checked in with the friendly staff and took the elevator to the 15th floor where my room was, it faced the CN Tower what a nice view! The room looked contemporary with it's dark wood furniture and colors that complimented each other. The flat screen tv was a plus but the bathroom looked slightly dated.
Due to my flight delay I was unable to get lunch before a meeting I wanted to get something quickly. At first I went downstairs to the Azure lounge and the host ensured that it would be quick I sat at the empty dining area while most of the people gather in the bar area. I waited for a good 5-10 min there was no server. Frankly because I was rushing I was quite pissed about the slowness of the service. I left the lounge and went back to my room to order something from the room service menu. I told the person on the phone I needed the food quickly because I was leaving in an hour. Still she said it would take half an hour. I ordered the smoked duck with lotus roots chips and some raspberry gastrique. Five small pieces of duck cost C$18, the room service came to C$30 plus. Wow!
Other than the weak dining facility and service I enjoyed my stay especially they gave me a room with a great view and a late check-out, which I ended up not needing.
