| - This review is for hair stylist Jamie Gentry in particular, not necessarily the salon.
I used to have long, beautiful blonde (bleached) hair when I lived in Chicago and San Diego.
And then I moved to Vegas.
The blonde became orange (technically "brassy" but I call it orange) and the hair around my face began to break off, leaving me with a "sunshine" looking hair-do around my face. I went from hairdresser to hairdresser looking for someone to heal my very damaged hair, and one of them suggested tape on hair extensions.
BIG mistake as the extensions would fall out of my hair, with lots of my own hair attached to the tape, causing even more damage.
I began doing research on hair extensions and learned about two brands that the celebrities use, one of them being Dream Catchers. I went to the Dream Catchers website and found a list of certified hairdressers here in Vegas. The first one I went to quoted me almost $2K and seemed very bored with me, saying the whole process would take 8-10 hours and I would need to bring a book to keep me occupied.
Hmmm...
I had to decline so I continued down the list.
And to my delight, I found Jamie Gentry at Posare salon in Summerlin.

Jamie has her own private room at Posare salon. She was very forthright with me about the extent of damage to my hair. She was also very honest about the cost of the Dream Catcher hair and the quality of the hair. I had already researched the quality and etc.... so I knew that what she was telling me was the truth. She didn't have the uppity attitude of other hairdressers I'd consulted with, but instead was very confident and assured of herself. I viewed her as a complete professional.
After the complimentary consultation, I decided to book with her for my new extensions and color. She placed the order for the hair extensions in front of me so I knew what to expect for the price (NOT the $2K the others quoted me, by the way!)
Almost a year later, I have only had to replace my hair twice, when with the tape-ins and the other extensions, I had to replace them every two months at a cost larger than the Dream Catchers.
Jamie places the extensions perfectly in with my own hair where I can don a fancy updo for a night out or a ponytail at the gym without the "beads" being exposed. Not that I'd be embarrassed: I wear my fake body parts with pride! :)
Oh, and my orange hair? It is now a lovely multidimensional blonde that meshes perfectly with the extensions.
As I've gotten to know Jamie, I see that she is not only a very gifted stylist but also a genuine, kind hearted human being. She is very friendly without being "fake" or "over-doing it", and as an intuitive, I sense her "real-ness." A very nice person to be around and feel safe with (i.e. not "being ripped off" and comfortable sharing your secrets with when you need to vent! Come on, we all know that our stylists are also our therapists!)
Bottom line: if you're looking for someone who knows to fix your color or give you the best hair extensions ever, visit with Jamie Gentry.
