  • I really regret having to write this review because my massage therapist was really nice, but I think "hope" it helps others. First of all, I have been to several of the spas in the valley. Talking Sticks, Montelucia, Phoenician... The Valley Ho spa isn't what I would consider a spa. There are no water treatments, waterfalls, steam rooms etc. They have a couple basic showers and a sauna. You are able to go downstairs and use the hotel pool. Upon arriving, they had a couple tea flavors out (no honey) and some water. I am used to a couple snacks, fruit, nuts. I am 35 weeks pregnant and before booking had asked that they do a firm to deep tissue on my back where I am having pain. I was assured that this would be possible. However, my massage therapist quickly told me that she had to do a light pressure. For the record, this is my 11th prenatal massage and have not encountered this issue. After all, I am going to have the best interest for my baby & certainly wouldn't do any harm! Also, I would like to see statistics of woman going into labor due to a massage. Woman at 40 weeks would be flocking to that therapist! I have a feeling, it simply doesn't happen. For the 60 minutes I was there, I tried to relax, but the light pressure was almost irritating. I certainly would not have spent the money to have someone rub oil into my skin. I wish there was more transparency and follow-thru. I was really disappointed. Sure, I was mentally relaxed, escaping for an hour from a screaming toddler into a quiet place will do that, but physically I walked away with 1% of relief. The shower I used had the cold & hot backwards which was just annoying & such an easy fix. I felt the experience could have been MUCH better and with so many spas in the Scottsdale area, they should aim to do a better job and deliver a better experience. Put some flavored water out, get some trail mix, have honey for the tea and fix your shower. The staff was very friendly and that is really important to me. I enjoyed talking with them and simply hope that their spa can work on it's experience and presentation. A waste of money for me today, sadly. Still uncomfortable and still no relief.
