  • Yes, yes, I know that Ziggy's is a little dingy and unkempt--and yeah, they don't have a very wide selection of newer brand name guitars and equipment, but when it comes down to it, I preferred coming here for the basics over the losers who worked at Guitar Center-- ANY DAY. Dionne and company are the nicest people around and they know A LOT about mostly anything you can throw at them musically. Not only are they the nicest, most knowledgeable people in town, but they're fair and generous. I brought my Hohner Viola Bass in to get the quarter-inch inputs checked out because they were a little loose, and they fixed it on the spot. They also offered to keep it overnight because the alignment was a little off and she wanted to fix it for me...when I picked it up and asked her how much it would be-- she said "Buy a pack of strings or something for $5 and we'll call it even." AWESOME. Since that time, I have brought and bought numerous things to Ziggy's. Faulty guitar amplifiers, strings, picks, straps, capos, the works. They were my go-to music shop for the little things, and they were always a pleasure to work with. ALSO, despite the sneezing I get after leaving there (I am allergic to cats), I always leave knowing that I never got ripped off-- which, in the music business, is common. They are the ONLY music store in the central Phoenix area who carries Martin brand Baritone Ukulele strings...and did I mention that they have a ton of amazing accordions? The Arizona Accordion club is curated by them and is an amazing organization in the preservation of accordion and classic polka. A friend of mine was a pupil for many years and is one of the most sought after accordion players in town. So forget about how old and outdated you may think this place is and recognize small, local businesses, their dedication to quality services, and pay them a visit for your guitar strings, repairs, or if you're in the market for a vintage tube amp!
