  • EDIT: 5/3/13 ATTENTION ATTENTION!!! The world of Yelp almost ended because I typed "prime rib" in my review instead of "bone-in ribeye". oh noooooo!!!! I guess I did not remember the menu item because I did not order it. There, there... it will all be ok... no need to attack me for that. Original Review: I was actually pretty disappointed with my dish here. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. My friend said the steaks were really good, so I knew I would definitely get a steak frites. The server said the prime rib with bearnaise sauce was really good. Instead of the prime rib, I opted for the steak with bearnaise sauce. Now I'm no expert on bearnaise sauce, but I thought the one at Mon Ami Gabi had no flavor except for butter. It just tasted like melted butter. I was expecting more creaminess to it with more herbs and flavor other than butter... The steak was very thin. I tried a piece of the filet mignon merlot and it was much thicker and nicer. However, my steak was too thin and I did not particularly enjoy it. As for the fries... they were disappointing because they are cut like really thin strips, and they give you a lot! But honestly to me, it felt like eating kettle cooked chips and crumbs from the bottom of the chips bag. Not a fan of that, especially in a huge amount (lots of it went to waste). I prefer thin fries which are crispy on the outside and with some potato texture on the inside. Some other people in the group really liked the fries though. The service was alright. They were nice but they were handing out the wrong plates... come on now. The complimentary bread was very good, freshly baked and crusty. It was served with butter and a mixture of pickled shredded radish, apple and parsley. I may come back to try other items on the menu, maybe for lunch. Now I just know not to get the fries or the cheaper steak.
