| - This eye exam office located within Lenscrafters, is much better than the one over at the mall. If you schedule your appointment and fill out the paperwork online, you're golden! I was called in for exam within five minutes of checking in.
I like how digital technology comes into play now for eye exams. Otomap & Clarifye, LC's trademark exam. The first room I was taken to there were 3 different machines. First one took pix of the cornea. You had to blink then stare at the blue light for a second. Then moved to the next machine, measures pressure, you stare at a green dot, and there's just tiny pressure from puff of air. The last chair, you look at pix and pick out which one was clearer.
Next room is the optician. Here you sit and they check your peripheral vision. You're handed a clicker, look into another machine and you focus your eye on some blurry dot (or was that a square?) and click when you see squiggly lines. Then read an eye chart.
Last room, is your optometrist. I did more eye chart stuff, then Dr, went over all the tests. The topography map of my cornea was pretty cool. Was told my eyes were healthy and pressure good. Dr, asked a couple questions, like any problems I was having other than I cant see. She determined I really need progressive lenses vs single vision ones. Yes, Im that damn old, I need bifocals.
This location, the office is smaller compared to Galleria, but was easier to book appointment. The other office had 1 week out wait period vs this office appointment availability next day. In my case same day appointment. It's also located inside Lenscrafters.
Everyone from the receptionist to doctor were really nice, patient and professional. The appointment was 25 minutes tops. My exam was covered by Mr. B's insurance, just a $10 copay. The Otomap is not covered and I forked over $44 additional. But worth it. Overall really pleasant experience here.
