  • I've been wanting to try this place due to it's high yelp rating, but sadly I was disappointed. We came here on a Friday night. Pros: The decor and service was nice. The food was decent, may not be my favorite kind of cuisine though. Cons: We got the elk stew ($18) and the the Shoemaker ($15). These items were both quite overpriced to begin with. There was very little meat in the elk stew and the "slice of meat" on the shoemaker was a tough piece of pork. They gave me a butter knife to cut it. That would've been okay if it had actually been at all tender, but it was the opposite. I pretty much had to stab it with my fork and eat caveman-style. Again, most of both of our dishes consisted of mashed potatoes (which was the best part of the plate). You also were given no choice in the sides that accompanied it. Here's the ultimate putdown which brought this down to a 2 star instead of a 3. When we got our bill, they had charged us $20 for the elk stew when the menu clearly stated $18. WTH? The only thing we can think of is that the waitress asked if we wanted pasta or potatoes and we went with the potatoes. Was it an extra whole $2 for mashed potatoes (which would be ridiculous) or were we just getting screwed in general? The meal came out to about $40, and that is without any drinks, apps, or desert. $40 for less than 8 oz of meat between the two of us, 3 cups worth of mashed potatoes, and water.
