| - One of your two big-chain "home improvement" stores. They have a lot of stuff for just about all your home improvement needs, and if you know what you need and where it is, it's a great store. If you need help though, you might find yourself frustrated. In my experience, you usually have to roam across the store to find someone, and since you're now out of the department you needed help in, they can't help you. But at least they'll call an associate for you. Even when that happens though, I've stood waiting for help long enough that it was clear no one was coming.
Like their major competitor, they offer a military discount, which is very nice and definitely appreciated. To take easy advantage of it though, you have to go to a regular register and not self check-out, or be sure there's someone at the self checkout area that's there to help. Then they have to still manually enter the appropriate code to grant the discount. Depending on availability, this making the self checkout take about as long as going through a regular line. (Not a criticism, just an observation.)
There is one strong positive about this Home Depot: the Christmas Tree lot. I don't know how they do it, but in a small space outside the nursery, they put out a solid spread of trees every single year. They have an assortment of trees separated by types and height. We've bought a tree from them for the last five years, it's always been a great experience, and the tree always lasts for 3-4 weeks. They trim the bottom, will take off as many lower branches as you want, put a net around the tree and help you load it in the car. Nice.
This store on Charleston Blvd has a huge parking lot, so no issue there. Park stroll in and get what you need.
In the end, the pros balance out the cons and the store (as well as the chain, frankly) gets three stars.
