| - Came for a friend's bday dancing on a Friday night to enjoy some retro 90's/2000's hip/hop and rnb. First time here, no cover charge. Turns out this particular night was super ol skool (probably early 90's) we hardly knew the songs...bummer! Suffice to say after all the drama created by their fake line-ups, "at capacity crap" I will not be returning.
Wait - backing up - we arrived around 11PM (3 ladies), they made us "the line", so we were just standing there waiting, alone for about 10 minutes, until more people joined the line, then they let us in. Its a really small space, but I was impressed by the decor - lots of mirrors, colorful chandeliers and soft couches. Bottle service (minimum of 2 bottles! yikes!) gets you a couch area, but its so small, not sure its worth it as you are not really in a secluded spot.
Back to the line - our dates joined us about 10 mins after we got in, so we came out to see what was happening. Again, bouncer says the club is at capacity (at 11pm? it was empty in there!) and then he was telling people that they were only letting in couples...good thing we came for our guys. So stood with about 10 other people for another 20 mins, and then they let us in, to the empty club!
Drinks are quite pricey, if you go for cocktails - $13, beer is about $8..sure no cover but I would almost rather pay cover and get in faster, and have cheaper drinks than the nonsense they had a the door.
We had some fits and starts on the music, you would start to get into "your jam!" and the DJ moves to the next song, bummer! Space was premium so no running man moves here coz people are constantly moving back and forth and interrupting your groove (but it was still relatively empty).
Fast forward to midnight, other friends tell us they are outside in line. Cool, wait 30 mins, they are still in line, 45 mins waiting, its now almost 1AM, THEY ARE THE LINE. The bouncer kept saying "at capacity" we ask him what is capacity (clearly he knows we have been inside and know its not packed), he didn't answer. The club owner meanwhile kept coming out and bringing in "his friends" or people who supposedly are paying for bottle service. Yeah right, at 1.30AM, you will be buying a table, with 2 bottles for $400 plus to chug it down in 1.5 hrs yeah right!
So at 1.30, we gave up hope that they would let our friends in, so we left and went to the Bier Market for a last round of reasonably priced drinks, in a place with no cover, no stupid bouncer crap and space to really groove.
Foundation Room - epic fail!
