| - I decided to try eyelash extensions before my vacation to avoid having to do my makeup all the time. My friend had been to Noir previously and had a good experience, so I decided to check it out and was relieved that the initial Full Set price was only $75, which seemed reasonable. I booked an appt and off I went!
My frustration started right off the bat with parking. Due to the flood, the lot beside Noir was closed and it took almost 15 minutes to find a spot. Sort of annoying as I had to pay for it, which irritated me, but as it was Friday evening it was somewhat expected.
I arrived at Noir to find a fresh, girly space with comfortable beds, plush seating, bright colors, and a bunch of magazines to keep me occupied while waiting. I explained that I had never done lash extensions before, but I wanted them to be full and dark without looking obviously fake. I was very nervous because I have extremely sensitive eyes, but I was relieved to find that the only uncomfortable part was having my lower lashes taped down, which was done quickly and painlessly. I was shown the various lengths to decide what would look best on my face, then closed my eyes for a 45 min nap, and woke up with gorgeous lashes! I do admit, they weren't as full and thick as I would have liked. Initially, I was a little disappointed, but after having them on for 2 weeks now I am IN LOVE. I don't know if I could ever go back to my natural lashes, which may hurt my wallet in the long run! The good news is, a fill is only $40 and should only be needed every 3-4 weeks (sometimes longer) if you take good care of them.
She explained the upkeep to me and gave me a small mascara wand to use to brush them out. I quickly learned that having lashes is not necessarily easier! You can't get them wet for 24 hours after having them applied (not as easy as it sounds). Washing your face can be tricky, as you cant rub your eyes, and applying eye makeup requires a little bit of adjustment. You must brush them out after getting them wet, and be careful how you sleep to avoid smooshing your face into the pillow. I decided to purchased the Geisha Ink eyeliner, which is unfortunately pretty expensive, but is ultimately best for the lashes in the long run.
You may be wondering now, why the heck would anyone get them done? The reason is that they are gorgeous. You don't realize how much more your eyes stand out until your lashes are done. I get ready in a matter of minutes now, and I feel like I always look done up, awake, and refreshed with them on. As I've been following the care instructions very closely, and haven't been wearing much makeup, I've only lost 2 lashes in 2 weeks, and they still look great. My only complaint would be that it's REALLY hard to get an appointment, so I recommend booking your next one while you're at your current one, and if you have to cancel you may not be able to reschedule for at least a week or two.
I am officially a lash addict! Thanks Noir!
