Located in the north-most quadrant of Newmarket it is a brand new facility opened early summer 2012. It has a basketball court, pool, hot tub and saunas. It is a massive facility with everything but towel service and squash courts. Which apparently are only available at signature clubs.
The change rooms and showers are large but are rarely restocked with soap and paper towels. This isn't a huge deal to me as I bring my own but many have complained. The staff are friendly enough, however don't bother with free week passes or 3-day trails as this rarely seems to work at this location. The check in process can be slow as their front desk staff have the dual job of scanning passes and dealing with customer inquiries.
The clientèle at this location are mostly the suburban housewives from the area so their are lots of spin/zumba/yoga classes to be had and also a kids club (daycare for the kids while you workout). That being said the group fitness room is open for use when there are no classes in session, it has heavy bags and gloves provided, and is large enough to do a lot of cross-fit activities. The weights section is well equipped and their are plenty of plates and dumbbells to go around. There are also a large amount of machines available, some of which are quite unique from other gyms. Even when its busy there isn't much waiting time for machines to free up. There is a juice-bar/protein shake which has a good selection of drinks and even cheap headphones if you forgot yours.
Overall this gym has a good price point for its facilities. (I signed up pre-opening so I pay a much lower rate: $30) , initiation fee ($99) but no contract which is nice. They have other options available and there are still specials going on. They have family plans that you can add under the main account for a cheaper price for a fee ($25). Please note all the prices here are what I paid, we all know how different prices can be at gyms from time to time. You also get access to their other locations in Canada and the US.
