This is the BEST thai restaurant in the US, in my opinion. I cannot come to Vegas and not take a detour to eat here.
First, MAKE a reservation and make sure you can get there slightly before your reservation as they will only hold your table for 5 minutes. There is still always a wait. Anticipate about a $16-$18 cab ride from the strip and about 15-20 minutes to get there depending on traffic. Try to not go on a Friday or Saturday as it is always overly packed.
Second, its not on the strip, it's in a mini mall in the middle of nowhere. At first, you look at the outside and it looks like a place you are not sure you want to trust eating at, but trust me...you will thank me.
They have a pretty high tech checkin system with an iPad and they actually have things organized when you get in.
Now for the food, when you get the menu go straight to the chef's specialties or the Northern selection. It's what they specialize in so take advantage.
They will ask you a scale of 1-10 for spiciness..the food is SPICY. A 10 is only for those who have replaced their stomach with Iron. A jalapeno is more at a level 2, a habernero is at a level 5...Scotch bonnets are level 8...I don't even know what they use. Mind you the spice is there but so is the taste..its not like you burned your mouth and then nothing.
The wine list is also pretty impressive for a strip mall thai restaurant. And well priced. For $150, you can easily feed 4 people with a reasonably good bottle of wine too.
Food Recommendation: Short Ribs in Penang Sauce
