  • I went here once after my girlfriend's suitcase was accidentally damaged by a hotel bellhop on the East Coast. The hotel told us they'd reimburse us for the expense of fixing the damage, so I took the suitcase along with another suitcase i own that had a broken zipper and unraveled leather handle strap into Shoe Lab to get them both repaired. This is a small store front in Boca Park and you wouldn't expect it to be too busy given its size, but each time I went into the store there was somebody ahead of me waiting and each time the customer in front of me in line was having some kind of issue with their transaction. Apparently, nothing really runs smooth at this place for anyone. The lady working behind the counter is unemployable in just about any other context. She had a severe frown that looks to be permanently etched into her face and she was ruder than she looks. I advised I'd like to pay separately for each piece of luggage repair and she had this look of disgust on her. Perhaps she's one of those types that are mad at the world for bringing her into it. She replied that she cant ring up the repair for each suitcase separateley. I asked her why not...couldn't she just treat it the same way she would different customers. She sighs and then stares at the register trying to figure out how to process the transaction. She then says her computer wont let her do that. Ive never used a cash register for a living but im pretty sure you can ring up one item, collect the payment, give the receipt and then repeat the process. She then clicks a few buttons and lo and behold it works just the way i asked her to do it. Why then all the attitude and grief for this simple request. Im paying you $145 to fix a broken zipper and 2 broken handles. You are price gouging your customers (Costco is selling an piece of luggage for less than the cost of the repair) and you can't even give them separate receipts for the pleasure of all this. So basically, this lady doesn't even greet anyone entering her store except with this stupid cold stare and doesn't know how to say please or thank you - just to complain to her coworkers at some off site location over the phone, out loud, with people standing in line. Then you have this guy with a bushy mustache and a cowboy hat polishing shoes on some apparatus that looks like a lathe with his back turned to you and a bunch of overpriced knick knacks for your shoes and luggage collecting dust on a few shelves. the walls are decorated in the shopping bags of luxury retail stores. bottom line is that unless you are some kind of masochist that likes overpaying for shoddy repair work and being treated like garbage by rude, angry and unprofessional types with personality problems, i suggest you steer clear of this joke of a store.
