  • I'd been to Vegas twice before but never as an adult and never having stayed in one of the big hotels on the strip. If there was any hotel that I could choose to have my first real Vegas trip at, the Bellagio was always number one. It's location can't be beat. It's right in the center of the strip and within walking distance of the best entertainment and dining on the strip. Should you splurge for a fountain view room, which we did, you get prime views of the strip and the fountain show right outside your window. Our room was very spacious but that could also have been because our last hotel room in SF felt teeny tiny and we were happy to have the space. I was a bit bummed that I wasn't able to locate the safe until an hour before we left though since I had some valuables I wanted to store in it (it's in the bedside table drawer not the armoire). Aside from the location, the hotel is clean, high end, and classy. I loved that there is a lot of security but it is inconspicuous so you feel that any nonsense from the strip won't be coming into the hotel and certainly not up to the rooms. The casino is large and was our favorite on the strip based on the selection of games (we visited quite a few other hotels). We also loved the many lounges, bars, cafes, and restaurants offered within one hotel. The property is huge but it is so convenient to have it all at your fingertips. Now as much as we loved the hotel itself, our experience in terms of customer service was less impressive. My husband is an avid golfer and he had set up a golf day through the concierge. On the website, the hotel advertises its special relationship with a handful of the courses in the area and that they offer to take care of everything for you; I would expect nothing less from the Bellagio. We called the night before his golf and were told to go to the concierge desk to get his rental clubs and meet with his driver. I also would have to come to present my credit card. We walked down and were met with a confused look before being shooed to the bell hop. Fine, we'll try this again. At the bell hop we explained that he should have transportation waiting for him for golf that was set up through the Bellagio. The bell hop checked a list and said that an outside company must have book the driver since he wasn't checked in on the list. He then proceeded to stare at us expectantly as if we had any clue what he is talking about since the hotel booked this whole thing. My husband asked if his rental clubs were there and the bell hop answered yes and proceeded to stare at us expectantly. I then asked where they were and he said "oh, I'll have them brought over." When our driver arrived and saw the lack of organization at the bell hop and the fact the bell hop had moved on to helping other people when we were still waiting on clubs, he stepped in and said something to move the process along. My credit card was never requested either so there was no reason I had to be there. My husband also told me when he returned from golf he had to explain multiple times that the clubs were the hotel's and not his because they kept trying to tag them for storage like they were his. And finally, at checkout, I only saw charges on our bill for the transportation and not the rental clubs or green fees. After talking to the woman at the front desk and a phone call to the course we finally figured out some outside company the course uses charged us for the fees. I still cannot believe how unorganized this whole process was. It was more confusing then it needed to be and the entire staff constantly made us feel like just another number, not an individual guest. But I shouldn't have been surprised since my dad had warned me about this from his visit with my mom in 2015. Bellagio seems to have gotten a bit big for it's britches and forgotten what customer service means. This service they were supposed to provide my husband was executed poorly and he would've been better off setting everything up himself. I would stay here again because the good out weighs the bad, but I'm extremely disappointed that the service side of the Bellagio doesn't live up to its reputation.
