  • Here is an overview from a very knowledgeable customer who has purchased quite a few plants from Moon Valley. First, the prices are very high. You are encouraged to let them plant your material, but the price is much higher. This is a large profit center for the nursery. Many of the salespeople do not know much about plants in general. A few technical questions to a salesperson will leave you with few correct answers. When the crew arrives to plant the material you have purchased, you may find that they dig small holes. They say the soil in the containers will stimulate the roots to grow in your garden. Actually, this is untrue as any nursery professional will tell you. This is a way for them to save money in labor, planting amendments, and to move faster to the next job. The warranty that is offered is really poor. If you plant yourself, there is no warranty. If you pay them to plant the tree, they offer only three months warranty. Trees which are in shock or planted poorly often take more than three months to die, so you are really stuck if this happens. If you want to buy a warranty for one year, it will cost you about 20% more than the cost of the tree and planting labor. In comparison, Home Depot offers a one year warranty, no questions asked, if any plant they sell dies; even if you plant it.
