  • Eh. I have a very strong love/hate relationship with Winners. This location makes me lean towards the "hate" end. For any Americans, Winners is the equivalent of TJ Maxx -- they carry a lot of brand names for cheaper prices, sometimes stuff from seasons past, sometimes current, sometimes annoying to dig through racks of clothing to find something nice. This location has the potential to be so awesome -- they carry "The Runway at Winners" which means there are tons of designer labels for less, from Missoni to Stella McCartney and Miu Miu and Canadian labels like Pink Tartan. But it's in such a central location that it is literally picked apart on an hourly basis. A lot of people seem to stop by this Winners on their way to and from work, to take a look at what's there and then buy it all. So for those of us who do not want to go into a store everyday, it's kind of hard to find anything decent. Basically this Winners is hit or miss. It is a HUGE location, so they have that going for them, but it's usually packed with people as well, and it's a huge mess most of the time. Staff are obviously annoyed with people rummaging through all the racks and are less-than-nice if you ask them for help -- "NO! THERE'S NOTHING IN THE BACK!" I will applaud them on their shoe section because it's about 10 aisles, but the typical "Winners shoppers" are so serious about their professional shopping that if you see the same pair of shoes at the same time, there could be a physical fight to make them yours. And sometimes I don't want to fight for last season's leftovers. Stick to suburban Winners -- you're more likely to find something unique that every commuter in Toronto hasn't picked at already.
