| - First and foremost, I believe their rating is a false high. The server tells you about half way through your meal that if you leave a review on Yelp while you are there and show him at the end of the meal you will get a free desert. He then tried to clear our food while we are still eating and asked if we were ready for our free dessert. When we were finally done he approached us again about the dessert to which we replied we didn't want dessert.
The actual food was just ok. The broth was a little boring, we both got the spicy broth, I got a little spicier than my husband. There is a "sauce bar" which is pretty awesome that you can make your own sauces as well as a couple of prepared sauces. At the end of the day it was just kind of a stressful meal experience. You get very little room and they try to recommend a meat platter, vegetable platter and seafood platter; we didn't get the seafood. There is no room to really do much and you are cooking your own stuff so you can't move much while you are trying to cook. Not to mention if you want anything off the conveyor belt there is no room to put it. We only got two items off the conveyor belt and both times didn't know where to put the dish. There were two ladles in the broth, one regular and one with holes to scoop out the chiles and such. The last hot pot restaurant we went to had a little container to put your utensils in which was very convenient as well as a pair of scissors for you to cut things up, something they might want to look into.
We've been to hot pot before, Yojie, and had a really good time. Overall I think this place just doesn't do as good of a job, it's a little to gimmicky and hip. I think it's way sketchy when you are pushed to do reviews in front of the staff, I wouldn't go back. On a final note there was a very intense smell in there, kind of a cross between body odor and bad fish, I almost left before we were seated because of it, kind of wish we had.
