  • We went to the Peoria tent event looking for a new vehicle, to seat 7. We already have 2 vehicles so we wanted to trade 1 in. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an (unnamed) salesman from Van Chevrolet. He seemed nice and friendly (as they all do). After going over our credit (which we told him of the bat, was not excellent) and whatnot, the salesman said we needed to buy a newer, more expensive vehicle to hide our negative equity in our trade. We settled on a 2015 Chevy Traverse. A deal breaker for us was that it had to have Bluetooth streaming, which we were promised it did. After the test drive and getting down to the negotiating (back and forth with down-payment and monthly payment amounts), the salesman says, the finance manager says they cannot do the trade, too much negative equity, but they can still get us this vehicle. By this time, 3 our 4 hours have gone by. We're mentally exhausted, which I'm sure is one of their sales tactics, but of course, I'm partially to blame because I was not thinking to ask, "We'll, if we don't have to hide our negative equity, why don't we get a less expensive vehicle?" I just went along. Another salesman, (I guess he's, "the closer") comes over and says, "I'll pay your other car for 4 months while you look for a buyer," which equates to $1250 (this is in writing). He says, we'll say it's for a new stereo and we'll put it on the "back page" (whatever that means). We finally end up just buying this expensive vehicle that we didn't need to. There was a dent on the rear hatch that was included in the "we owe." Salesman says to bring the vehicle to the shop, they will fix the dent. We leave the lot, realize the mirrors can't be adjusted, and oh... NO BLUETOOTH STREAMING! So tired and aggravated at this point. Next day, we go back to the tent event, talk to the same salesperson. Tell him we want to trade it for a less expensive vehicle since we don't need to "hide" the negative equity, and we NEED a vehicle with Bluetooth streaming. Salesman talks to finance guy and comes back and says, "Vincent (finance guy) said, We don't have time for that, this is the tent event, we have OTHER customers to tend to." Now I realize I'm just a number. Sale is done, eff off. We tell salesman, we NEED Bluetooth streaming and we told him it was a deal breaker. Salesman says, when you bring the vehicle in for the dent and mirrors, I PROMISE you will have the Bluetooth streaming. "They" will either update the system or put a new one in. And if they can't, I'll switch the vehicle out for you. I PROMISE, I will make this right." What do you think happened??? We pick up the vehicle from the shop, NO BLUETOOTH STREAMING! We ask salesman why it was not fixed ... He said, sorry, couldn't do it, it was going to cost $2k. Sorry, have a nice day. Are you serious right now? This place was Nothing but LIES. Let's not forget about the $1250 for the 4 car payments. My wife goes to pick up the check, didn't look at the amount till she deposited it. It's short $50. And $50 is &$50! I am not even surprised at this point. Van Chevrolet at the tent event was all about turn and burn, make that sale, get them out. I understand sales as I was a sales manager for 10 years. 1 thing I never did was make promises I could not keep. Shame on you Van Chevrolet, for making my first experience with you a horrible one that is going to last me the next 72 months. Van Chevrolet, if you want to make things right, you have my number.
