| - Ahhhh, the Kimpton Firesky.
It's the only place I've ever stayed in Scottsdale (4 times) and while I'd love to give it more stars, each time I am less and less impressed.
I'm going to give you the rundown.
For the price, I do think you get some pretty damn good value, a great location, a pretty cool premises and decent rooms.
However, I've noticed the quality of the staff gets worse each time I go. I'd like to think I'm a pretty open and energetic guy and try to say hi to everyone. If you're in the hotel service industry, at least say hi back with a smile and some energy.
Anyways, I lost my credit card at the airport and the Firesky team decided to lock me out out of my room and threatened to kick me out. As a rewards member, who had also offered to pay everything up front in full with a debit card, I didn't appreciate this. I get the policy, and was going to have a new card the next day.
One girl at the front desk especially had a bad attitude and made me wait at 12AM when all I wanted to do was get some sleep.
Some other things...
*The rooms seem outdated at this point and I could hear my neighbor's quite easily.
*If you're younger and want to have a cool vibe, this is not your spot. Friday and Saturday nights there was nothing here (my plan was to meet people at the hotel since I was rolling solo) before going out.
*The pool parties attract a very interesting crowd and the "music" (some dude banging on some musical instrument I've never seen) was boring.
The valet guys were great people and were the highlight of the stay, as well as another server and bartender.
Next time I'll be staying at the W.
