  • I've been needing some new tires. I looked at pep boys site on my phone and found a good price with installation ($545). Then I went to Ebates and found out that I could get %3 back if I used a computer to make the tire purchase instead of my phone. Sweet! %3 would be roughly $15 back on my purchase. When I got everything set on my computer I noticed the total was $20 HIGHER for the tires and service than on my phone. What??? I talked to an online rep and he basically told me "that sucks but it is what it is" So I called down to this location to explain the situation and to ask if they could give me the %3 back on the tires since I'd have to buy the tires on my phone to get the better price. I wasn't aggressive or mean and I even joked that I knew going to this trouble for $15 was crazy but hey! It's $15 I could spend on bills. The guy (Phillip I believe?) told me that was weird and he had never heard of that problem before. And then in the nicest way possible he told me that nope they wouldn't give me the $15 discount. Stubborn donkey that I am I decided to keep looking around for better prices. I finally found Big O Tires and they had what I wanted for $440 including install and free alignment. I called down to confirm the price and weirdly enough his computer pulled up a higher price. But without hesitation he said "Just print out what it's showing you online and we'll match it!" So I guess I should be thanking Pep Boys for telling me to buzz off. I'm saving over $100. Pep boys lost a $530 job but hey! At least they held on to that $15.00 .
