| - I had a new kitchen vinyl tile floor (looks like stone and is grouted) installed in my century home. I read, researched and comparison shopped and at the end of the process I was just where I thought I would end up -- with John and Jen Toth/ Floor Coverings International of Cleveland West. I would have saved time to follow my intuition without all that research but this way I know for certain that this is the way you should go.
This is a mobile business with no bricks and mortar store so they come to you at a time that works for you. When John works with you you'll learn about your home, flooring options, installation and view samples as well as get an estimate. My floor is one that had been layered floor on top of floor for many layers so they had to pull out 2 layers of flooring with attention to other details of an old home. The important thing to know is that this is a business run the way businesses used to be where the goal is to do a job perfectly and to focus upon the working with the customer as a person.
As for comparison shopping, I visited a couple of stores and got one other estimate. Floor Coverings International's quote was a little bit more money but it was for an inclusive installation so in the end I think pretty similar cost since the other one was with add-on costs to the basics (so be sure you are comparing apples to apples). But I had a clear sense that although I wanted to pay a competitive price of equal importance (maybe even more importance) was to have people I trusted to guide this process. I needed to feel confident that these were craftspeople who would treat my home with the same level of care/attention to details as if it were their own. I found that with this company the focus is on the relationship with the customer rather than the sale -- of course they want the sale but that's the result investing time and the ultimate payoff is doing a good job.
On my project John and team went above and beyond on details. John stained my transitions (2 doorways) to match my original wood floors, brought the tiles over to lay them out before the installation because I had some concerns and then came by after the install to assure everything was handled and any problems fixed. I learned that this is not how any other flooring companies around here works so that puts John and Jen Toth at the head of the class. So although I spent only $2,500 I was afforded the same attention to my job as if I had spent $25,000.
If having quality flooring be it tiles, linoleum, carpet or something else installed for a fair price with no headaches, no surprises and nothing but good then this is the way to go. Trust me, I've done the research and had a new floor installed and these folks are the best for the job.
